Hey Ghanastronomists!! Are you ready for this glorious spread of deliciousness that I’m about to throw at you?? I really hope so πŸ˜‰ Also, quick CAUTION ⚠⚠⚠⚠⚠⚠ The following foods I’m about to mention might make your mouth water. Don’t say I didn’t warn ya πŸ€€πŸ‘…πŸ’¦ But before we dive right in, allow me to set the scene for the best dinner party EVER.

Imagine getting invited to dinner at someone’s house whom you’d just met with a group of friends. He tells you to bring wine and to not worry about the rest. You make a quick stop at Trader Joe’s, home of the most tasty and affordable wines known to humanity. And then BOOM! You also see part of the dinner party crew picking out a delicious wine for the evening ahead! Small world innit? Well, Madison is pretty small so you’re not that surprised tbh. You grab some Mango-flavored prosecco because you’re a bougie babe with a bubbly personality, and head to the host’s home where the rest of the crew is gathered.

The host, Fernando (aka the BEST host ever), gives you and the group a warm welcome. You start sipping and mingling with Fernando, Darina, Nasitta, Ben, Stephanie, Alli, Angeline, and Sounak. One thing leads to another and BOOM! A delicious, Greek-inspired salad with all the signature toppings hits the table πŸ₯— As a former salad shop employee, you’ve mastered the art of salad-making, so you’re quite critical of any salad not made by you. But alas, the salad passes the test of freshness, flavor, form, and flare. Complete with chopped romaine, red onions pickled in saltwater, juicy banana peppers, halved grape tomatoes, diced cucumbers, Bulgarian feta, and dressed in olive oil, the salad hits all the right spots πŸ˜‹πŸ˜

Before you know it, a basket of freshly baked cassava cheese bread teleports from the oven to the dinner table. You gently caress a perfectly rounded roll, blow off the steam to ensure the perfect temperature, and shove the entire thing in your mouthπŸ˜›πŸ€­πŸ˜­ Your eyes light up like a newborn baby being baptized for the first time🀩 The gooey center, the soft interior and the golden exterior makes you wanna bust out some dance moves πŸ’ƒπŸ’ƒAnd before you reach to grab another blissful roll, you realize they’re all gone because everyone else ate them πŸ˜’

It’s okay though because the appetizers keep rolling in! Next up, plantain!! Your favorite pastime snack. That being said, the expectations are a bit up there, considering the staple role plantain plays in life as you know it. Thankfully, the disappointment is nowhere to be found! The gently fried plantains are perfectly golden-brown, lightly salted, adequately sweet and hot to the touch. The word PHENOMENAL comes to mind as you sink your teeth into the delicacy that is plantain. So far so good.

And now for the main event, MUSSELS!! Mmmmmmmmm mmmmmmm. Fresh from the market, and straight to the palate. Well, there’s a few important steps in between of course. Prepping all the aromatics, adding a bit of acidity, and including the fat components are all necessary steps in achieving a balanced yet exciting flavor profile. Complete with a side of toasted bread, the dish was absolutely delightful, along with the rest of the night.
